There are 3 general expectations and guidelines for 3rd year apprentices:
- 1. That each 3rd year apprentice contributes to the work force and hours of the approved ministry opportunity in a pure heart of service as unto the Lord.
- 2. That each 3rd year apprentice is trained in specific job descriptions to maximize their preparation for full time ministry.
- 3. That each 3rd year apprentice establishes a mentoring relationship with a ministry supervisor within the organization of service and with their 3rd year advisor.
The purpose of the 3rd year is to provide a track for each student to understand and excel in the necessities required to engage in fruitful, legitimate and purposeful ministry. The apprentice is required to perform the agreed upon ministry/job responsibilities with faithfulness and diligence.
The apprentice supervisor will be expected to document the apprentice’s hours, attitude, job responsibilities and performance. Any questionable conduct or behavior is to be reported to the HSM Office immediately. The supervisor will also be responsible for establishing a weekly mentoring and follow up meeting of 15-30 + minutes.
The apprentice will be required to work 20 hours per week for 11 months in their assigned roll. No formal classes are required. Periodic self-guided studies may be assigned by each individual advisor or HSM leadership. Weekly work logs will be required to be submitted (signed off by the supervisor for approval).
After completing the 11 month program, each student will meet with leadership to submit an application for a license with HWMC approval. Students may choose their licensing agency and are not required to be licensed through HWMC.
Students may choose one or a combination of the following options for their 4th year program
- 1. Be sent out to work with another ministry
- 2. Start their own full time ministry
- 3. Work at HWMC
- 4. 4th year church plant project
Total cost for 11 months of apprenticeship is $750. Fees may be paid in monthly installments of $68.18, if desired. This cost includes all material and fees.
4th Year
In order to successfully complete the 4th year program, each apprentice must be able to prove they have completed 1 or 2 years of fruitful ministry (Mike Gordon will let us know the requirement).
For those wanting to work with a ministry outside HSM, the ministry leader must submit a Supervisor Application to ensure they understand the details of the program.
Students are responsible for setting up a regular contact schedule to report to their HSM supervisor. They are also required to submit a monthly report to their mentor that lists all details required including accountability information.
