Student Life
A unique model of Student Life at Heartland School of Ministry (HSM) is the understanding that the HEART of the student is the “Center Piece” and core of every campus and off-campus endeavor. It has been said, “You can count the seeds in an apple, but you cannot count the apples in a seed.” We believe every HSM student is marked, assigned, and destined to be a planet shaker. The campus culture at HSM is geared toward catapulting followers into leaders.

Mentoring
Coaching or mentoring will occur in a number of venues. If you’re a couch dweller and learn best with a cup of java in one hand, and a book in the other…the student lounge could be your domain. Another one-on-one hot spots are the basketball court, Frisbee golf, rock climbing, or teeing off at a local golf course. Moreover, just 10 minutes from the HSM campus is Grapevine Lake where fishing, water skiing, jet skiing, and more mentoring opportunities are available.
Fellowship
With a new city, job, apartment, and roommates to get accustomed to, it is easy to get lost in the process. The Student Life Department is there for the students to bridge the gap and to give them an opportunity to break the ice and to build genuine friendships. Through small groups, all night prayer and worship gatherings and creative relationship building events no student is left behind. Take a deep breath…the journey to life long friendships is around the corner!
Leadership
The Student Life Department strives to strike a balance between the classroom and actually fleshing out Christianity! Students will be given an opportunity to lead by serving each other and impact the campus community through a multitude of service options: Serving coffee, planning campus days, coordinating evangelistic outreaches to local universities. The Student Life Department will provide opportunities for students to excel and develop their leadership skills as an apartment captain, leading small groups or intercessory prayer. It has been said, “The best time to plant an oak tree is 20 years ago, the second best time is today.” Student Life is all about planting this generation of OAKS for God!
Housing
We have negotiated rates with quality apartment complexes within 10 minutes of the HSM campus. Though every HSM student is responsible for his/her housing, we will give our best effort to pair roommates and make recommendations. The average 2 bedroom apartment in the area ranges from $700-$900 a month. We recommend students pair up 4 to an apartment. The cost savings can be substantial. A current list of active apartments can be secured from the Student Life Department.
Employment
We are reaching out to local businesses and discovering who is hiring within a 10-mile radius of the School of Ministry. Our goal is to supply an active employment list for HSM students monthly. We encourage students to have an active resume and current references when applying. These jobs will be posted in the student lounge and updated monthly.
