Ministry Training Programs
MTP's are the areas students will major in while attending Heartland School of Ministry. Each of these specialized ministry tracks provides students with the opportunity to combine classroom learning with life and practical experience. Students are required to work in areas of ministry either at Heartland World Ministries Church or another area church. For further details on each MTP, please view below.

Children's Ministry

"Building Blocks"

Students take an in-depth look at the unique role of a children's ministry leader and learn the dynamics of building a successful ministry from the ground up. Students gain a deeper insight on how they can more effectively reach children with the love of God as they gain understanding of a child's, physical, emotional and spiritual growth.

This high-energy MTP equips students with essential skills that children's ministers must know. A hands-on approach is the format for this interactive class. The Children's Ministry MTP also provides an overview of children's ministry from birth through sixth grade: Including age group characteristics, leadership of various children's ministries, the spiritual development of children, methods, resources and current trends in children's ministry today. The purpose of this course is to allow the student to make immediate application of the material they have learned in class by serving in children's ministry at a local church. Back to Top ^

Youth Ministry

The Student Ministry MTP offers hands on experience and training with the youth ministry of Heartland World Ministries Church or the student's home church. Students receive practical teaching and training in subjects that are relevant to ministering and impacting their generation.

Students are also given the opportunity to gain valuable experience in youth ministry by being involved in the production of the weekly youth service, school campus ministry, home group ministry, relational one-on-one ministry, as well as event and project planning. Finally, students also have the opportunity to be mentored by the pastors of Heartland's Student Ministry or others at their home church.

Along with the daily involvement with pastors, students are also given the opportunity to meet and learn from some of the top youth pastors and youth speakers in the country. Students graduating from the Student Ministry MTP will leave fully prepared to meet the challenges of ministering to today's teenagers. Back to Top ^

Ministerial Leadership

The Ministerial Leadership MTP teaches students how to avoid many of the shortcuts that appear along life's way as they seek to minimize cost, increase energy and save time. Students are taught how to walk in faith while facing impossible situations, remain faithful when others abandon the cause, persevere in the midst of challenging situations, enter into their own destiny, how to make their dreams come true, and how to overcome doubt and despair in the midst of hopeless circumstances.

Students are also exposed to principles of leadership that are necessary for a spiritual leader through the illustrations provided by men of God such as Moses, Nehemiah, the Apostle Paul, David Livingstone, and Charles Spurgeon. This course encourages students to place their talents and powers at God's disposal so they can become a leader used for His glory.

In addition, students are taught specific ways to have an effective ministry by targeting improvement in their spiritual and personal development. This course is designed to help students become effective laborers who have the ability through leadership to equip and inspire others to become actively involved in God's Work. Back to Top ^
