Ministry Training Programs
Each of our Ministry Training Programs (MTPs) provides students with the opportunity to combine classroom learning with life and practical ministry experience. Students are required to work in areas of practical ministry either at Heartland World Ministries Church or another area church. The four Ministry Training Programs are:
Missions & Evangelism
The Missions & Evangelism Program provides a general overview of missions and examines missionary principles and practices from Biblical, historical and cross-cultural perspectives. The course examines the implications of the Great Commission as well as historical and contemporary methods of evangelism. Missionary and evangelism methods are evaluated for their effectiveness. Each student is required to create their own innovative witnessing and outreach projects. Students have the opportunity to hear from guests invited directly from the mission field, seasoned evangelists and missionary organizations, in addition to our own faculty and staff.
This MTP includes but is not limited to the following list of topics: Steps to the Missions Field, Developing Relational Support and Fundraising, Technology/Media and Missions, Local Church Missions, Pioneering International Bible Schools, Conducting International Crusades and Conferences, Projects for the Nations, Drama on the Field, Communication, Leadership Skills, and Church Planting.
Children's Ministry
Students take an in-depth look at the unique role of a children's ministry leader and learn the dynamics of building a successful ministry from the ground up. Students gain a deeper insight on how they can more effectively reach children with the Gospel message as they gain understanding of a child's, physical, emotional and spiritual growth.
This high-energy MTP equips students with essential skills that children's ministers must know. A hands-on approach is the format for this interactive class. The Children's Ministry Program also provides an overview of children's ministry from birth through sixth grade: Including age group characteristics, community evangelism, methods, resources and current trends in children's ministry today. The purpose of this course is to allow the student to make immediate application of the material they have learned in class by serving in children's ministry at a local church.
Student Ministry
The Student Ministry Program offers hands on experience and training with the youth ministry of Heartland World Ministries Church or the student's home church. Students receive practical teaching and training in subjects that are relevant to ministering and impacting their generation.
Students are also given the opportunity to gain valuable experience in youth ministry by being involved in the production of the weekly youth service, school campus ministry, home group ministry, relational one-on-one ministry, as well as event and project planning. Finally, students also have the opportunity to be mentored by the pastors of Heartland's Student Ministry or others at their home church.
Along with the daily involvement with pastors, students are also given the opportunity to meet and learn from some of the top youth pastors and youth speakers in the country. Students graduating from the Student Ministry Program will leave fully prepared to meet the challenges of ministering to today's teenagers.
Worship
The mission of the Worship Department is to train students with the heart of David in worship to minister through music and related arts with a spirit of excellence as a Levite.
The Worship Program is designed to teach students the skills and principles necessary to lead people into the presence of God. This course also focuses on the musical and spiritual flow of worship, sensitivity to the Spirit, musical considerations, and pastoring people in the presence of God. Special emphasis is placed upon allowing the Holy Spirit to work through individuals.
The Worship Program equips students with practical skills in all areas of Worship ministries ranging from being a member of a worship team to managing a worship team. Topics include but are not limited to: leading worship, worship as a lifestyle, flowing in worship, prophetic worship, songwriting, producing and arranging, musicianship, music and vocal ministry.
